Indie Film Distribution Company Creates Speakers Bureau

Filmmaker Ron Mann and Music Promoter Gary Topp whose indiedistribution company filmswelike has released acclaimed films including the upcoming Aussie hit "Kenny" and Jan Sverák's "Empties" has created a boutique speakers bureau for filmmakers.

Why a speakers bureau?  According to Mann “in a world where people will rip and download our movies for nothing there will be no real way to do anything about it, live performance will be the way to make money.” 

speakerswelike, plans to build a select roster of talented filmmakers to represent. Already signed up is iconoclastic Canadian filmmaker Guy Maddin whose "Brand Upon The Brain!" was released by filmswelike.

Additionally, speakerswelike has signed US directors Joe Swanberg (Hannah Takes the Stairs) and Arin Crumley (Four Eyed Monsters) for an upcoming tour of “Mumblecore” movies in June.

While there are booking agents for musicians, speakerwelike will be the first speakers agency specifically for filmmakers.
